How does conventional braces work ?
Conventional braces use metal brackets bonded to the front of each tooth and anchored together with an archwire. Archwires have been designed with shape memory to apply gentle pressure throughout the duration of treatment.
You can choose different coloured elastics (o-rings) during every appointment, making traditional braces so much fun to wear. These elastics are placed around each bracket to secure the archwire in place.
How long does treatment with conventional braces take?
This depends on your orthodontic requirements, and every case is different; however, it typically takes 12 to 24 months to complete your treatment with traditional braces.
Who are conventional braces for?
All patients, from children to adults, are eligible for conventional braces. Despite the increasing popularity of other orthodontic treatments, conventional braces continue to be an effective treatment option, especially for more complex cases.
Types of conventional braces
Metal brackets: Traditional conventional braces use stainless steel brackets and archwires. However, the brackets have taken on a much smaller size, making them less noticeable and more comfortable.
Ceramic brackets: These conventional braces use ceramic brackets which blend in with the colour of your teeth. Their aesthetic appeal makes them a popular choice.
