Toothache Relief

How do you get a toothache to go away?

A toothache won’t go away on its own. Even if the pain starts to subside, the underlying issue must be addressed or the toothache will come back — often worse than before.

Our office is the best place to go to get help for a toothache . We offer emergency appointments and sedation options to help you feel better as soon as possible. Call us now at 02 4958 6099(Boolaroo),  02 4975 2616(Wangi) or Book Online and let’s see what’s going on.

Common toothache symptoms to watch for

  • Sudden and sharp pain in your face and mouth
  • Dull throbbing pain in your mouth, jaw, or face
  • Swollen gums or cheeks
  • Discomfort or excessive bleeding when brushing or flossing
  • Pain aggravated by chewing, cold, or heat

Why is a toothache worse at night?

Toothaches are unpleasant at any time of the day, but many of our patients notice the pain worsening at night. Why is that? It’s usually one or a combination of factors, including:

  • Your sleeping position causes more blood to rush to your head, putting increased pressure on your mouth
  • Your brain has fewer distractions at night, and you may become more aware of sensations in your body
  • It’s possible that you suffer from unconscious tooth grinding at night, which can aggravate any pain — or may even be the cause of your tooth sensitivity or pain!

What causes tooth pain?

Whether a single tooth is sore, your molars are hurting, or multiple teeth are in pain, our dentists will conduct a thorough dental examination to investigate the underlying cause and help you understand what’s going on.

Tooth pain can be caused by a wide range of issues including:

  • Cavities/tooth decay
  • Broken tooth
  • Tooth infection
  • Loose crown
  • Impacted wisdom teeth
  • Improper filling
  • Gum disease
  • TMJ disorder
  • Bruxism
